4 year old child with foreign body (coin) in food pipe (esophagus) removed with endoscopy in midnight. Child was comfortable soon after the procedure and went home next day.
Foreign body ingestion is one of the challenging clinical scenario which a Pediatric Gastroenterologist face regularly. Foreign body ingestion in children is accidental and involve common objects found in the home mostly. Any foreign object in esophagus has to be removed urgently – preferably within 24 hours.
